Learn To Swim Round 1 participants on their last day!

Water-based activities are a cherished part of life in Geelong, and we’re excited to announce that applications are now open for round 2 of our Learn to Swim Program! Designed specifically for international students, recent graduates, and their families, this program aims to build the skills, confidence, and knowledge necessary for safe enjoyment of our beautiful waterways.

Program details:

  • Start Date: Saturday, 9 November

  • Mandatory Briefing: Join us for an important program briefing at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, 6 November.

  • Duration: The program runs for 7 weeks, concluding on Saturday, 21 December.

  • Class Schedule: Enjoy 30-minute lessons at 12:30 PM, 1:00 PM, and 1:30 PM. We offer mixed-gender, men-only, and women-only classes to ensure everyone feels comfortable.

Throughout the program, participants will engage in a variety of activities that focus on:

Personal Safety and Water Confidence: Learn how to safely enter and exit the water, submerge and blow bubbles, float unaided, and recover confidently to a standing position.

Swimming Techniques: Get introduced to freestyle and backstroke to build your swimming skills.

Survival Skills: Understand essential survival techniques, including backstroke arms and treading water.

In addition to the lessons, participants will receive a pass that allows them to practice their swimming skills throughout the 7 weeks, helping to reinforce what they've learned in class.

This program is perfect for anyone aged 18 and over with little to no swimming experience. Best of all, there are no fees to participate! We’re also considering providing swimming equipment such as caps and goggles to ensure you have everything you need to succeed.
